Biography: Jon is a lifelong, 14th generation Virginian and a native of Hampton Roads who was raised in relative poverty. The product of a broken home, at a young age Jon’s step-father, a former Vietnam-era enlisted Marine, would greatly inspire his decision to himself become a Marine. In the 1980’s his parents embarked on a life as CIA operatives. This afforded Jon the opportunity to travel the world and gain valuable insight into foreign cultures and governments. Time spent living in Asia, Europe, and Latin America taught him to understand how privileged he was to be an American. Jon earned a college scholarship with the Navy/Marine Corps and graduated from the George Washington University with a degree in Political Science. He was commissioned a 2ndLt on the same day. Jon served as a US Marine Corps officer for 28 years. He is a highly decorated veteran of the Iraq War and many other campaigns. One of the most active intelligence officers and national security experts in the USMC, Jon participated in or personally led many of the most high profile national security missions of the last 3 decades, including the rescue of Captain Scott O’Grady from Bosnia; the invasion of Iraq as a member of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force; the Marine Corps response to the Benghazi terrorist attack; and the Marine Corps investigation of Edward Snowden’s theft of classified materials. Jon retired in 2020 as a senior intelligence officer for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. In his civilian career, Jon has managed domestic security policy and budget for the US Department of State, and is a trusted consultant to both the US military as well as African and NATO partners on countering Chinese and Russian activities across Europe, Africa, and Scandinavia. As a retired Marine, Jon was a key player in the veteran-led effort to evacuate thousands of American citizens and verified allies during the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Why you?  While we have a number of candidates with admirable service records, I am by far the most experienced candidate of anyone running. I have three decades of leadership experience at the highest levels of the national security structure of the US. I co-wrote the National Defense Strategy for China in 2020; I was a director of regional intelligence for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, managing all geographic intelligence cells. Furthermore, I have the deepest roots in the district. I am 14th generation Virginian and care deeply about Virginia. I actually live in the district, and have for 25 years. All of my children were born in the district. I am not running for this seat because of my own personal ambition. I have no desire to be a politician or to make a second career of it. I am running to get in the fight to save America. To save it from the slow creep toward socialism, and to save it from those who would gladly shred our constitution. I will fight for term limits, to try to take our government back to the vision of the founding fathers: a call to service and a citizen-legislature.

What are your priorities? My top priorities are returning to fiscal sanity (reducing inflation and driving down cost of living), restoring our national sovereignty (border security), refocusing our national security on actual threats like China (not made-up threats like “white nationalism”), and rescuing our crumbling military from mismanagement from within (eliminating social agendas from the ranks). But, above all else, I want to fight for TERM LIMITS.

Leadership Experience:
I was a United States Marine Corps officer for 28 years. I led Marines and joint service members at every level from tactical to strategic.

Personal Strengths:
I am experienced, action-oriented, intelligent, and lack vanity. I am purely dedicated to God, my family, and my country.

What is the most important thing Virginians need to know about you? That I am a person of action, and that I can relate to the struggles of the average Virginian. I am not a person who aspires to be a politician, get on tv, sound important, or talk about how things should be without taking action. As exemplified by my role in the evacuation of Afghanistan, I don’t just watch things unfold, complain on social media, and then talk about how I would change things. I took action to connect Marines on the ground with people requiring evacuation, saving hundreds. I can relate to the average person because I grew up poor. With a single mother escaping an abusive relationship, with three children, our daily lives were a struggle to exist. A struggle to eat, to acquire the things we needed to live, and even to find shelter. I know what it’s like to be at the lowest levels of American society. I lived it. Now, with my own family and three children, I feel the pain of the cost of living and the importance of protecting my children from efforts to sexualize and indoctrinate them with leftist ideologies.

How would your friends and family describe you? They would say that I am intelligent, have a long list of accomplishments in the service of my country and humanity. They would say that I’m fiercely patriotic and while I am witty, I find nothing funny about the decline of our nation.

What are your thoughts on the Constitution as the Law of the Land?  I am a constitutional conservative. I believe in a strict interpretation of the constitution, and in particular the 1st and 2nd amendments, which are constantly under attack.

What are your thoughts on religious liberty? I believe in complete religious freedom.

What are your thoughts on the preservation of our history? History is an accumulation of both the good and bad occurrences over the life of our nation that define us and teach future generations the path forward. The re-writing or erasing of history is the practice of leftists and despots. Our history should be protected, enshrined, celebrated, and taught to future generations.

What are your thought on government transparency?  The government is by the people and for the people. The government has no inherent right to hide or conceal information from the American public. While it is important that classified national security information is protected, we need to stop the politicization of this type of information.

What are your thoughts on national defense? National defense is of the utmost importance. I include protection of our sovereign borders as an element of our national defense. Our current leadership is purposely allowing our borders to be invaded, a clear dereliction of duty. I am a firsthand witness to the degradation of our military, the reduction in recruiting, and the lowered standards in order to satisfy “DEI” requirements. It is my intent to join the fight to rescue our military from internal mismanagement.

What are your thoughts on the free enterprise system? I am a firm believer in free trade economics. I do believe that free trade must be accompanied by fair trade. The US needs to allow the free enterprise system to operate without interference, but at the same time we must protect America from the unfair trade practices of foes such as China.

What are your thoughts on the protection of the unborn? I am pro-life. I believe that using abortion as birth control is morally reprehensible. As a father of two 19-year old daughters, I would not want them to be forced to carry a rapist’s child. I believe in exceptions for rape, incest, and to save the life of the mother. I believe that all civilized societies should have some sort of limits on abortion. Those who would abort fully formed fetuses and babies up until birth are radicals.

What are your thoughts on the role the family plays in America? The family plays the preeminent role in educating, protecting, and preparing children for entry into society and the workforce. The government has for too long tried to interject themselves into the business of American families, stripping parental rights away and forcing unwelcomed ideologies upon our youth. I will always support parental rights over government overreach.

What are your thoughts on equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity, as opposed to equal outcomes? The role of our free American society is to provide equal opportunity to all without regard to race, religion, sex, disability, or sexual preference. It is a country where you are limited only by your drive and imagination. The push for equity or equal outcomes is merely another tactic to push for the implementation of Marxist ideology: that all citizens should possess the same results and that those who would achieve more and greater things be limited from doing so.

What are your thoughts on the 2nd Amendment? As a Marine who has seen everything the world has to offer, and witnessed the damage that governments and terror organizations can inflict upon their own people, I am 100% pro-second-amendment. The 2nd amendment wasn’t written for sportsmen and hunters. It was written to provide the citizenry a tool to defend against tyranny both foreign and domestic.
