Biography: Yesli Vega is a military wife, mother, and law enforcement officer. Born in Houston, Texas to Salvadoran immigrants fleeing civil war, her family has taken full advantage of the freedom and opportunities made available only in America.

Yesli grew up in Virginia where she was taught the invaluable lessons of hard work, faith in God, and love for the greatest country on His green earth. It was here that she met her high school sweetheart, Rene, whom she’s been married to now for fifteen years and has raised two beautiful children with.

Yesli’s decision to enter the world of law enforcement came following an attack on her family by MS-13 gang members. The random targets for initiation into the brutal gang was her brother and his best friend. While they murdered his friend, her brother, by the grace of God, survived the attack. The professionalism and care with which the local law enforcement agencies dealt with the situation inspired Yesli to want to give back and help to protect other people in need while instilling a burning desire to eradicate these types of criminals from American streets.

Her career began as a street cop with the City of Alexandria’s Police Department where she faced the split second, life or death situations our men and women in blue face every day they put on the uniform. Yesli temporarily left the world of law enforcement as duty called her family to South Korea to join in her husband’s deployment as a member of the United States Army. Being so close to the daily threat of Communist North Korea gave Yesli an even greater appreciation for America’s commitment to freedom and human rights.

Upon returning, Yesli went back into law enforcement with the Manassas Park Police Department where she became a certified hostage negotiator, and later joined the Prince William County Sheriff’s Office to serve as a deputy and Crisis Intervention Team member under legendary Sheriff Glen Hill

In December of 2018, she announced her campaign for an open seat on the Prince William County Board of Supervisors. Due to her commitment to advocating and fighting for conservative principles, Yesli won the Republican nomination with over 80% of the vote. She then won the general election in her Democrat leaning district by thirteen points in a blue wave year, not by running away from her unapologetic conservative principles, but by highlighting them and taking them to every voter and home in the district.

Why you?  I’m a law enforcement officer that has already served this community in high-risk situations. Right now, police departments all over this country are in serious trouble because they don’t have the funding they need, they don’t have the support from local government administrations and they don’t receive the respect they deserve from many of our country’s citizens. We need to start electing more people with law enforcement backgrounds to the halls of congress to help deal with our crisis in law enforcement.

I’m a conservative fighter that has worked diligently to defeat gun control legislation directed towards law abiding gun owners. I’ve introduced and voted for proposals that would have dramatically reduced property taxes and eliminated other taxes such as the Boat and Meals Tax. I also led the fight to maintain our life-saving 287g agreement with ICE which ensured that illegal immigrants (in Prince William County) that are guilty of committing heinous crimes are deported. I’ve stood up to Northern Virginia special interests who want to wipe out 60-70 homes in my district through eminent domain and have fought to defeat taxpayer funded monopoly bargaining in Prince William County and to eliminate our misnamed “Office of Equity and Inclusion.”

In the “blue wave” year of 2019, I was elected to my current position by 13 points in a district that Ralph Northam had just won by 8 two years prior. This 20 point swing was accomplished not by running away from our conservative principles in a bad political environment but by boldly highlighting and bringing them to every corner of the district. I’m a proven winner, even in tough years in a tough district and that’s the type of resiliency and tenacity we need from a candidate to be able to win this race.

What are your priorities?
Making sure our law enforcement departments have the resources they need to keep criminals at bay and hold them accountable
Defending the unborn
Securing our southern border and upholding our immigration laws

Leadership Experience:
I have worked as a law enforcement officer in three different Northern Virginia jurisdictions as a street cop, hostage negotiator, and member of the Crisis Intervention Team. I currently serve on the Board of Supervisors representing Coles District. Additionally, Last year, I led the Latinos for Youngkin coalition which successfully brought out a historic 54% of the vote for Governor Youngkin.

Personal Strengths: I’m a passionate person that speaks from the heart. I’ve been told I’m an effective communicator. Anyone can come up with a great idea, but if you’re not an effective communicator your message won’t resonate. You won’t be able to change hearts and minds like we did in 2019 or in 2021 when I led a historic coalition of voters that enabled Youngkin to secure 54% of the Hispanic vote. By cutting through the Left’s rhetoric, I was able to help the Youngkin Team cultivate an effective message that resonated with many Hispanic voters and which will be an important element of this campaign.

What is the most important thing Virginians need to know about you? I’m a woman of faith in Jesus Christ and I will always be upfront and transparent. One of the challenges we face with many of our representatives is that they promise one thing on the campaign trail, and then when they’re elected to office they turn around and do the exact opposite. My faith enables me to fight and never back down or compromise on our conservative principles.

How would your friends and family describe you? A passionate fighter. Fearless & tenacious. I will always stand up and fight for our conservative principles regardless of who I’m speaking to. I’m not afraid to go into the lion’s den or different communities and share our conservative message with anyone willing to listen. This resulted in my winning a district by 13 points that Ralph Northam won by 8 points two years prior. That’s the type of fearless and tenacious leadership we need from our congressional representative.

What are your thoughts on the Constitution as the Law of the Land? Of course. Our liberties are being infringed upon every day. Luckily, the Constitution is a durable document. Now more than ever we need representatives that will fight to protect our individual liberties and freedoms. I will work to end Cancel Culture and protect our 1st Amendment rights. I have voted and will continue to fight against unconstitutional gun grabbing legislation. Additionally, I will ensure that power is returned to the state and local governments as stated in the 10th Amendment.

What are your thoughts on religious liberty? The United States was founded as a nation of men and women that were fleeing religious oppression. Our country has always been a place where all people can worship God without the fear of government intervention. The first protection in the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights is the freedom of religion. We must defend this sacred right at all costs.

What are your thoughts on the preservation of our history? America is the greatest country on the face of the planet and we have more right to be proud of our history than any other country on the face of this planet. As someone whose family had to flee a place much worse, believe me, it’s true. We must absolutely preserve our history. As the Left and the Democrats are showing us, it was never really about canceling Virginians like Robert E. Lee or Stonewall Jackson. They’ve already moved onto trying to cancel George Washington, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt. They’re ashamed of our history, all of it. Do we live in a fallen world with fallen people? Yes. But tell me which country is perfect. We’re the closest and we should be proud of that.

What are your thought on government transparency? As an elected official, I take government transparency very seriously. I’ve made it a priority to keep constituents updated with a monthly newsletter that clearly explains what the board is voting on and how the legislation will affect the people of Prince William County. One of my priorities in Congress will be to introduce legislation that limits legislation size to single issue bills. That way any American can read it and understand it. This will also help put an end to 1,000 plus page bills that no one has time to read.

What are your thoughts on national defense? National defense is the main and most important duty of government aside from protecting and safeguarding our individual liberty. This includes defending our border more than those of other countries. Any country’s national defense strategy should ensure that it is protecting their citizens, first and foremost.

What are your thoughts on the free enterprise system? The free enterprise system is the greatest and most productive supplier of all human needs. Our country experiences its greatest economic and industrial growth during time periods when there are less regulations and more freedom. The free market helps breed competition which increases product quality while keeping prices for consumption reasonable. We need an economy with reduced regulations that allows for growth, choice and opportunity for business owners and consumers.

What are your thoughts on the protection of the unborn? Life is a human right given to us by our Creator. Every life is precious which is why I’m proudly pro-life. I will always fight to protect the most vulnerable among us.

What are your thoughts on the role the family plays in America? The nuclear family is the foundation of our nation. The family is where our children are learning their ethics and values. Right now, the nuclear family is under attack by the radical extremists in the Democratic party. They’re attempting to indoctrinate our children in schools with information and lessons that should be left for families to discuss. Additionally, a breakdown of the family has led to a rise in crime making our communities less safe, substance abuse, depression, high school dropout rate and other devastating consequences. I will fight for our families and the values we share.

What are your thoughts on equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity, as opposed to equal outcomes?  Providing everyone with equal opportunities and being fair and impartial is desirable for our nation. Everyone must be treated equally under the law. However, as a society we should not be pursuing equality of outcomes. The most important factor in success is one’s own desire to achieve. Legislating outcomes is impossible. We must encourage everyone to work hard for the American dream and that it’s not something that should be handed out by the government.

Regarding claims that Yesli Vega supports the Black Lives Matter Movement, CFV Chair Thomas Speciale conducted a personal interview with the candidate and was provided substantive information refuting this claim. Yesli Vega adamantly opposes the leftist agenda regarding “racial justice” of any stripe and has voted consistently against leftist claims of endemic racism, white supremacy and other aspects of the “woke” agenda. Contact our Chairman, Tom Speciale (tom@chasingfreedomvirginia.com, 831-521-5716) for further details.

What are your thoughts on the 2nd Amendment? Our right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed under the 2nd Amendment and must never be infringed. A free people must have the right to defend themselves. As Prince William County Supervisor, I have fought against gun control resolutions that compromised our constitutional rights. When you restrict the 2nd Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens, crime goes up. Criminals don’t adhere to laws and gun free zones don’t work. I will always protect our 2nd Amendment rights.

What are your thoughts on the 2nd Amendment? It is there to protect us mainly from a tyrannical government. It should not be infringed upon. The right to keep and bear arms protects all other God given rights we have. I will protect the 2nd Amendment with everything I have.
