Biography: Jeanine Lawson has lived in western Prince William County since 1995, where she and her husband Dan raised their two children. Since 2014, Jeanine serves on the Board of County Supervisors representing the Brentsville District where she has been re-elected twice. The district is one of the fastest-growing districts that has significant development pressures and infrastructure needs. She is most known for upholding Smart Growth Principles and preserving the rural area of Prince William County. Jeanine also serves as Vice-Chair of the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) Operations Board and Chairman of the Innovation Owner’s Association Board of Directors.

During her time in office, Jeanine has fought to keep taxes low, support public safety agencies and manage growth. Jeanine has made it a priority to support the business community and oppose costly tax hikes while providing high-quality services to taxpayers. She will oppose efforts to confiscate guns from law abiding gun owners. Virginians have seen Democrats in Richmond pass laws that make responsible gun owners criminals. She will oppose restrictions on the second amendment and stand up for the constitution.

Virginia’s 10th Congressional District deserves a champion for the people. A leader who has a record of bringing people together rather than a record of division and deeply partisan politics. Jeanine grew up in small-town Iowa and was active in sports year-round. Her favorite sport was basketball earning statewide recognition her junior and senior years. In the summer of 1988, she was honored to represent her home state competing on a European tour. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1992 and soon after, Jeanine and Dan moved to Northern Virginia where the jobs were. Jeanine Lawson, an Iowa native, has lived in Northern Virginia for three decades. She and her husband, Dan, a CFO in the mortgage banking industry, are adoptive parents. They raised their two children in Prince William County where they attended public schools.

Since 2014, Jeanine has served on the Prince William County Board of Supervisors, where she has advocated for lower taxes, economic development, high-quality public education, and responsible growth in Prince William County. Her trusted leadership has earned the vote of her constituents three times. Also serving on two regional transportation boards, Jeanine understands the value of working in collaboration with other elected officials. Jeanine is proud of her record of supporting responsible growth and protecting open lands, including the historic battlefields. Jeanine has also proudly stood with law enforcement and opposed efforts by the board to weaken our public schools.

Jeanine will ensure that business owners and taxpayers are represented. Jeanine’s husband has worked in the mortgage industry for over 30 years in Northern Virginia and currently serves as the CFO of George Mason Mortgage. She knows first hand how the regulatory burdens placed on mortgage bankers impedes their ability to transact business in an efficient, cost-effective manner. In Congress, Jeanine will oppose Maxine Waters’ and other member’s radical agenda that will encourage irresponsible lending.

What are your priorities?

TAXES
On the Prince William County Board of Supervisors, I have consistently opposed higher taxes on residents and business owners. In Congress, I will fight against hiking taxes on hardworking Americans, instead I will work to cut taxes.

​The unprecedented $6 trillion budget recently proposed by the Biden Administration will drown American families in more taxes and will only hurt the middle class. SECOND AMENDMENT
I unequivocally support our Second Amendment. It is in the Constitution to protect citizens from government overreach. It is our inherent right to defend ourselves, our family and our property. Ralph Northam and the Democrats’ recent attempts to criminalize law-abiding gun owners are misguided and unconstitutional. Efforts to destroy the Second Amendment empower an out-of-control government and erode our liberty. World history has consistently demonstrated after a government disarms its citizens, tyranny ensues. I will proudly defend our Second Amendment to ensure that NEVER happens here.

TRANSPORTATION
I have supported transportation projects that cut commute times and were funded in a fiscally sound manner at the local level. I’ve been a staunch opponent of Project Labor Agreements and other mass transit boondoggles that cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars, but do not shorten commute times or improve our quality of life.

HEALTHCARE
Competition is often the answer which is why we need more free market solutions to our healthcare system. By nature, competition will create more options in the health care industry and force companies to be more efficient. Patients deserve more transparency in billing and portability of insurance across state lines so families can choose the insurance plan that is best for them over government mandates.

Before a patient’s procedure the cost should be clearer, so patients know upfront what is and is not covered by their insurance plan. This will also allow people to freely seek other opinions or facilities which will better prepare the patient and their family and end most post op surprise billings. All these competitive principles will drive health care prices down.

Another key change needed in our healthcare system is protection for providers to exercise their freedom of conscience that object to abortion as a procedure. EDUCATION
For decades public schools at all levels have pushed a liberal agenda on our kids. Their latest tactic is watering down of our curricula by eliminating advanced math and adding woke education ‘lessons’ like those taught through the lens of Critical Race Theory which does not make our kids better students or critical thinkers. Instead, it only weakens their education and caps their potential. I support ensuring our children hear all perspectives and debate the merit of different ideas. Teaching history from only one perspective and angle is wrong.

​Let me be clear: I oppose the teaching of Critical Race Theory and all efforts from liberal interest groups to drive educational discussion to the far left. We must stand up to the woke education interest groups who are poisoning public education.

​In Congress, I will support giving parents more choice in their kid’s education. I support school choice initiatives that empower parents to make the educational decisions best for their children with their tax dollars. IMMIGRATION
As a county supervisor, I am acutely aware of the effects illegal immigration has on a community from public safety matters to education funding. Sadly, I’ve witnessed MS 13 continually haunt an area of my district where families just want to work and live a peaceful life. In Prince William County, I voted to maintain the successful 287g program that deported illegals who had committed violent crimes. Securing the border is a federal responsibility and I am committed to fight illegal immigration by funding the border wall and fully funding ICE. From the beginning of time, nations protect their borders, why would America be any different?

Conservatives must be the champion for the small business owners as they recover from the devastation COVID-19 caused. They are the lifeblood of the American economy and prior to the pandemic small business optimism was at a 35 year high because of President Trump’s rollback of regulations and tax cuts. Now they are struggling to climb out of the Covid hole while facing new challenges such as supply chain disruptions and a labor shortage. Therefore, it is incumbent upon Congress to create business friendly policies that will lay the groundwork to return them to days of record prosperity and optimism. Contrary to what President Biden and Democrats support, hiking taxes and a minimum wage in this challenging business environment will be a death knell for many small businesses.

As the Brentsville Supervisor, I have worked closely with business owners to understand the challenges they face locally. I was proud to champion new initiatives that streamline the arduous permit process for a targeted industry, oppose tax hikes, and support other policies that remove unnecessary regulations so business owners can open their doors sooner. My district has been blessed with over 40 new businesses and $4 billion dollars of investments. That demand is a blatant disregard of not only the separation of Church and State, but also the Virginia Statute of Religious Freedom authored by our Founding Father Thomas Jefferson. His commitment to religious liberties in Virginia preceded our beloved First Amendment Rights. The proposed HR 5 legislation that would force Americans to violate their freedom of conscience and thought is a direct assault on the United States Constitution and our rights.

Life is worth protecting. As a proud mother of two children (one biological and one adopted) and the aunt of a niece with Down Syndrome, you can count on me to defend life in the womb! My pro-life positions are paramount to who I am. The science is indisputable that life begins at conception. Amid our cultural chaos, I will remain relentlessly dedicated to promoting a culture of life. I’m a founding board member of a crisis pregnancy home. Dan and I financially support several organizations whose mission is saving babies from abortion and showering young women with love and support. ELECTION INTEGRITY
The bedrock to our Republic is free, fair, and reliable elections. The United States will be in grave jeopardy if this bedrock ever crumbles. In recent years, there has been a growing concern of rampant voter fraud. The 2020 elections took our concerns to a whole new level. Safeguards were dismissed or often referred to as racist although these claims were baseless. In certain battleground states Democrat members of the executive branch of government circumvented election law and loosened or ignored protections to ensure the integrity of the vote. Meanwhile, Big Tech and the Main Stream Media worked overtime to censor conservative candidates, voters and any organizations who expressed warning signs that the process was riddled with fraudulent opportunities. By many accounts, it was a disaster.

Yet in the aftermath of the 2020 election, Democrats turned a blind eye to Article 1, Section 4 of the Constitution which clearly assigns the state legislatures with authority to conduct elections. As their top priority, Speaker Pelosi pushed House Resolution 1 paradoxically named “For the People Act.” This bill’s purpose is to destroy the 2-party system by federalizing elections so the Democrats can hold power permanently. HR1 passed on a party line vote except for 1 Democrat voting with every Republican member in the House.
